ASNZ South Island Champs

Go team Canterbury!

Our team of 29 athletes and lots of awesome supporters travelled to Queenstown to compete at the first South Islands regional competition in five years.  For some of us this was our first competition ever and we came away with lots of happy faces, new friends and great memories of a very successful weekend.

For the first time our growing club had two dolphin teams, team black took the gold and team red the silver for the dolphin combo event.  In the individual figures event, team members did extremely well with lots of personal bests and wow moments for Coach Jo.

Our Aqua team came a very close second in the Aquacombo event, taking home silver and renewed focus and energy ready for Nationals 2024.  It was great to see this team swim a new routine together and the bonds they've made over the last two years.  Coach Martha is very proud of all of you and we are looking forward to seeing your skills grow over the coming months.

It was extremely close in the Junior Tech event with new duet Catriona and Daniella bringing home a silver medal with as much sparkle as their togs and their routine in the pool.  This duet's skills are polishing up well and they are extremely excited to be representing Canterbury with a new and exciting routine for Nationals.

Last but not least, team Canterbury Artistic Swimming Masters competed as the first ever masters team for our club with a mix of experienced and complete novice swimmers absolutely enjoying themselves and we were thrilled with their result, gold!  We can't wait to see what these ladies can do in the pool as they develop their techniques and confidence along the journey to ASNZ Nationals 2024.

Team CAS is well supported by our friends and families, many of whom travelled with the team to Queenstown.  Their cheering was enthusiastic and the behind the scenes support invaluable in the team's success.  We thank you all for your all you do for us.

As we have grown, we have also grown the judging side of our club.  Our judges were very professional and we are proud of them for all the learning they have done, the questions they asked to improve their knowledge and their volunteering spirit, we know it is not an easy job.

Wishing you every success as you work towards your goals in Term Three team CAS and look forward to ASNZ Nationals 2024
